ARC's, e-ARC's and Me

I struggled a lot with a topic for this week's discussion. I had covered a lot of topics in recent weeks but, after I made another review log last night (because I had accidentally deleted the first one) I realized that I wanted to do one on ARC's, e-ARC's and how I deal with them. I am a big fan of lists. I make lists of books I want to read, lists of books I have to read and lists of books that I've read.

Yet the only formal lists I make have to do with ARC's & e-ARC's. When I initially started blogging, I focused only on the books I already owned. I had no idea what ARC's were and more to the point, I didn't want to have ARC's. I'm not a greedy person and it's not in my nature to be grabby with things, even things I love, like books.

Acquisitions of ARC's & e-ARC's started off slowly. Since I have such an eclectic taste in books, I was getting a variety of review requests from indie authors and publishers. Many of them, I accepted because I was running out of books to read. The whole concept of "running out of books" suddenly became foreign to me. Things only got unmanageable when I discovered first Netgalley and then Edelweiss.

As a newbie blogger, the ratio of approvals to denials for both of these systems were pretty lopsided for awhile. I was still keeping up with my books for the most part until I was six months in and Edelweiss decided to auto-approve me for multiple publishers. Then, I'm mortified to say, I got overwhelmed and yes a bit greedy. Of course I'm embarrassed about that.No one wants to be called greedy. It's a terrible thing to be called.

I tried to use Excel spreadsheets to organize things, but it just didn't work for me. I ended up using just a straight up Word Document. I wrote the title of the book and the date it was scheduled to be reviewed on my blog. Whenever I finish reading the book, writing the review and scheduling it, I cross it off of the list.

So how do you keep your review pile organized?

Stacking The Shelves #20

This feature is brought to you by Tynga @ Tynga's Reviews.

Hello everyone. As you probably noticed, there was no Stacking the Shelves last week. I had only gotten one book and I didn't think it made sense to do a whole Stacking the Shelves post for one book.

This week, I bought four e-books. I bought them mainly because I have the e-ARC's of their sequels and I needed to read the first books in the series before moving on to the e-ARC's.

I received one e-ARC from Edelweiss and 4 from NetGalley.Hoping to get a lot of these read and reviewed in the next few weeks.

Stacking The Shelves #17

Hello everyone! This was a crazy awesome week filled with excitement for me. First and most awesomely, I got auto approved for all HarperTeen titles on Edelweiss. That is a really big deal for book bloggers. Edelweiss had not been very kind to me in the past so to get auto approved was a major shock for me.

I tried hard to restrain myself as I am already far behind in my reading. Yeah, that did not last long. I had to download nearly all of the HarperTeen titles just in case this auto-approval thing was a total fluke.

Also on this day my copy of Allegiant FINALLY arrived. I may or may not have totally spazzed out and no there is no video of that. I also received an ARC of The Testing from Popcorn Reads which is really weird because I don't remember entering in contests or anything. But nonetheless, I'm SO excited.

I was also having issues with my Kindle at this point but after a quick conference with Amazon's customer service, everything was fixed and I was a happy lady.

Wednesday was another big day. I found out that I got auto-approved for HarlequinTeen's titles from Edelweiss as well.

So I got a grand total of 15 books this week. Yeeeeah, that's a LOT of books. Especially when I'm in the middle of a reading slump. I'm hoping to get out of this slump soonish. Maybe having all these awesome titles will help me out.

Stacking the Shelves #14

Hi, all of you awesome people. You may have noticed that I did not have a Stacking the Shelves post last Sunday. That reason was really because I had only received one book and I thought it was pointless to have a book haul post with only one book in it. This week, however NetGalley has been very kind to me. I received 5 books from NetGalley. Some of them are even early 2014 releases. Yipeee :) Broken Beauty was the only book I got 2 weeks ago and yes I did already read & review it. It just felt weird not to put it in the post.

I also received an e-ARC of The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year by Marie Landry. I am SO excited for this one.

Don't forget that this feature comes from Tynga's Reviews. Don't forget to stop by and link up your Stacking The Shelves posts/vlogs etc. As always don't forget to let me know if you have read any of the books that I got and if you did read it, what did you think of it.

Stacking the Shelves #12

Hello again everyone. This weekly feature comes from Tynga's Reviews. Don't forget to stop by and link up your STS posts or vlogs. All bookish goodies count.

This week was a big week. I had won a mystery box of books from Skye @ Skye's Scribblings a few weeks ago and the box finally arrived this week, I was really happy to see that I hadn't read any of these books. Not only that but I hadn't even HEARD of any of them. So yay for me.

I swiped up a few things from Netgalley this week. I had finished several review books this week so this was my treat to myself since I didn't purchase anything for myself this week.

As always, be sure to let me know if you've read any of these and what you thought of them. Also leave me a link to your STS post or vlog so I can stop by and see what you got this week.
