Blog Tour & Giveaway: The Orphan Queen (The Orphan Queen #1) by Jodi Meadows

Hello everyone, and welcome to Adventures in Reading. Normally I don't do blog tours unless I've read the book and loved it or I haven't read the book, but am extremely excited for it. This time, it's the latter.

BOOK INFORMATION
 TITLE: The Orphan Queen
AUTHOR: Jodi Meadows
SERIES: The Orphan Queen #1
PUBLISHER: Katherine Tegen Books
PUBLICATION DATE: March 10, 2015

SYNOPSIS:
Wilhelmina has a hundred identities.

She is a princess. When the Indigo Kingdom conquered her homeland, Wilhelmina and other orphaned children of nobility were taken to Skyvale, the Indigo Kingdom’s capital. Ten years later, they are the Ospreys, experts at stealth and theft. With them, Wilhelmina means to take back her throne.

She is a spy. Wil and her best friend, Melanie, infiltrate Skyvale Palace to study their foes. They assume the identities of nobles from a wraith-fallen kingdom, but enemies fill the palace, and Melanie’s behavior grows suspicious. With Osprey missions becoming increasingly dangerous and their leader more unstable, Wil can’t trust anyone.

She is a threat. Wraith is the toxic by-product of magic, and for a century using magic has been forbidden. Still the wraith pours across the continent, reshaping the land and animals into fresh horrors. Soon it will reach the Indigo Kingdom. Wilhelmina’s magic might be the key to stopping the wraith, but if the vigilante Black Knife discovers Wil’s magic, she will vanish like all the others,

Jodi Meadows introduces a vivid new fantasy full of intrigue, romance, dangerous magic, and one girl’s battle to reclaim her place in the world.

Necessity forced Wilhelmina to become good at many things -- including forgery. She regularly uses this skill to steal food and clothing shipments, create "official" identification documents, and obtain supplies to help her reach her goal of retaking her kingdom.

My Thoughts
I haven't read The Orphan Queen yet, but by the time this post goes up I will have an ARC loaned to me by a fellow blogger, and will have probably dove into it. I do think Wilhelmina will be a badass character. I am sure there will be times when I want to yell at her for making stupid decisions, but I think I'll end up falling in love with her.

  2. I love the aspect about having multiple identities! It's kind of a gentle reminder that no one label can identify a person. Looking forward to your review!

  9. I figure t's because of me getting into book blogging, but I am really getting into fantasy this year despite still having not read any. The Orphan Queen sounds fantastic and I'm always up for someone reclaiming their throne (unless their name's Daenerys who I have just a little issue with). Haha. And I'm always down for a fictional corrupt government.

But anyway, I love that Wilhelmina is a spy, that's great. It's also really interesting how she has such an interesting name and then her friend's name is just…Melanie. That's me being nitpicky, I don't really care.

I hope when you read this, you love it! I am really looking forward to it. Thanks for the giveaway. :)
